A new example family, built for the map

The example tree is now a fictional family of 824 people written to show what Viewfore does well. Nobody in it is real.

The first example tree was a well known public file of European royalty. It has thousands of people, but only one in six of them has a birthplace the map can find, so the example showed the product at its worst.

The example is now a fictional family. It starts in Devon in the 1600s, crosses to colonial Virginia, and works its way to Chicago, with lines coming in from Norway, Ireland, Germany, and Italy along the way. A few branches go to Ontario, Ballarat, and Buenos Aires. There are twins, infant deaths, a widow's second family, a name that changed at the border, and a line that dies out.

Nearly every person has a birthplace the map can find, and every marriage and death has a place too, so all five views have something to show. Couples marry in the bride's parish and settle in the next one over. Some move to the city. Deaths often happen in a hospital or a child's town with burial back home, so births, marriages, and deaths no longer all land on one pin.

Every person, place, date, and source in it is made up. It is generated by a script, and it exists so you can see the product without uploading your own file first. Load it with See an example on the home page.
