Upload a GEDCOM and see your family tree on a map, with pedigree, fan, lifespan, and insights views beside it. Viewing is free. Sharing a tree by link or embed is the only thing that costs money.

Viewfore is live at viewfore.com.

The idea is simple. You export a GEDCOM file from wherever your tree lives, drop it on the page, and every birthplace in it appears on a map. Click a pin to see who was born there. Click a person to see who they were and hop through their parents, spouses, and children. The same people are also drawn as a pedigree chart, a fan chart, a lifespan chart on a shared year axis, and a one-page summary of the tree by the numbers.

Some things it does that we care about:

  • It never caps the number of people. A tree of 30,000 loads the same way a tree of 30 does.
  • It never guesses a place. If a birthplace cannot be found, the person is counted as unlocated, not dropped somewhere plausible. If their family points clearly to one country, they get a marked estimate at country level, drawn differently from a real pin.
  • It does not keep your file. The file is read to draw your views and then discarded. There is no database of the people in your tree.

Viewing your own tree is free, with no account. If you want to share a tree with family or embed it on your own site, that costs $10 for thirty days or $39 a year. The people you share it with never pay and never sign in.

It is a small product made by one person. If something breaks, say so.
